PEO Implementation Specialist
Kristan Alexander started with PBS PEO as a Human Resources Assistant in January 2020. Prior to joining the PBS PEO Team, Kristan worked as a Legal Assistant in Social Security Disability Law for twelve years and in Mass Torts for two years. While attending college she majored in Broadcast Communications. Kristan loves to spend her free time outdoors, traveling, writing, and, of course, spending time with her friends and family.

Mary Ann Avery joined PBS in April of 2010 as a Payroll Specialist. In November of 2018, Mary Ann assumed the position of Operations Manager for PBS. She is responsible for all operations aspects for PBS as well as with payroll portfolio management, new client set-up, and filing and payment of taxes for various federal, state and local tax authorities. Prior to joining PBS, she worked for the CPA firm Barfield, Murphy, Shank and Smith for 5 years.
Mary Ann is a graduate of the University of Montevallo with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus in Accounting and has received her Fundamental Payroll Certification from the American Payroll Association. When she isn't handling operational duties at PBS, Mary Ann enjoys spending time at the lake with her husband and two children.

Merenda Beaman joined the PBS team in March of 2019 as a Payroll Clerk. Prior to PBS, Merenda worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years. She has experience in various positions from customer service to accounting and human resources. Merenda attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she studied accounting.
In her free time, Merenda enjoys caring for her family and making the drive to and from her hometown, Atlanta.

Deanna Bellsnyder joined PBS in July 2018 as Controller. Deanna came to us from Lakeshore Foundation in Homewood where she was the Accounting Coordinator for over 10 years. Before joining Lakeshore Foundation, Deanna worked with AmSouth Bank as an internal auditor and Construction Loan manager then Brookwood Baptist Church as their Financial Secretary for 9 years.
Deanna loves spending her free time at the lake, gardening, or cheering on her Auburn Tigers with her two sons.

Bo Brasher joined the PBS team in February 2019 as an Implementation Specialist. Prior to joining PBS, he honed his skills as a teacher, writer, musician, and actor both in Birmingham and abroad in South Africa. Bo also studied Media Writing and Journalism at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, before moving back home to help his family.
His main non-work interests are highly pop cultural. He prides himself on being the life of the party, especially if he’s spending time with friends. Bo lives with his best friend, Ace, a giant black lab who is the friendliest, best dog in the world.

He graduated from UAB with a Bachelor's in Accounting. He and his wife, Brianna, are proud parents of three lovely children.

Kristy Burman joined the PBS team in October 2020 as a Tax Clerk. Kristy is a graduate of Florida State University with a BS in Social Work and Psychology. Kristy previously worked with her degree as a counselor, but after opening up her own business three years ago, became interested in business and taxes. Kristy has three children and loves to spend her free time hiking, cooking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Meredith Chisenhall joined PBS in May 2023 as a Business Development Representative. She graduated from Birmingham-Southern College in May of 2013 with a B.A. in Musical Theatre. Meredith joins PBS with a background in retail management and over 10 years of experience in sales and customer service. She is full of energy and loves to connect with new people!

Jennifer Clark joined PBS in October of 2017 as an Implementation Specialist and then further moved her implementation knowledge to the PEO. She is a huge asset to the team! Jennifer’s responsibilities include coordinating implementation details, maintaining new client files, processing payroll, timekeeping, and assisting in projects. Jennifer has a husband, Randy, and two beautiful daughters. She and her family love spending time together as much as possible!

Alice Cole joined PBS PEO Payroll Services in June of 2019 as a PEO Payroll Specialist. Alice comes to PBS with 10+ years of payroll processing knowledge and skills from both the client side and the payroll processing side.
Prior to joining the PBS team, Alice worked as a Senior Payroll Specialist for a local payroll company and as an in-house payroll specialist. She also has experience in several other backgrounds with 17 years as a Cosmetologist and 17 years in Finance. Alice graduated college with a 4.0 GPA and was awarded class Salutatorian with a degree in Legal Office Management but chose to pursue a career in the Finance Industry instead.
Alice and her husband have two adult children and seven grandchildren. Alice spends most of her free time attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities.

Matt Crowson joined PBS in May 2019 as an Implementation Specialist and assisted in setting up all new companies. Brittany Dickerson joined PBS in July of 2017 as a Tax Clerk Intern and is now a Senior Tax Specialist. During her first few years at PBS, Brittany quickly became an integral part of the Tax Team. She helped improve processes and utilizes her attention to detail daily. Prior to PBS, Brittany worked for 8 years as a seamstress with her uncle while going to school. She graduated from Jefferson State Community College with an Associate in Applied Science in Accounting and an Associate of Arts, along with two certificates in accounting.

Leigh Ellington joined PBS as an HR Assistant in August 2016. Since then she has taken on the role of a Benefits Specialist and coordinates all things benefit-related for the PEO. Leigh graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Finance. Prior to joining PBS, Leigh was a benefits coordinator for an electrical contractors company. Theresa Fuller joined PBS in May as a PEO Payroll Clerk. She is a graduate of the University of North Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Radio-TV & Film. Throughout her career she has worn many “hats.” Theresa has worked in the TV and radio industry, has spent over 20 years in internal and client-facing customer service, and many years in the auto insurance field. She also brings over 8 years in IT experience as an ASTQB--certified software quality analyst.
Originally from the Magic City, Theresa has called both Birmingham and Hayden her home throughout the years. She and her family recently moved back to Blount County where they enjoy the fresh air and beautiful sunrises. Theresa and her husband Jeffrey have one son, Benjamin. She is an active member of Gardendale Baptist Tabernacle. She enjoys spending time with her family whether it be traveling to sporting events, horse shows, or just a lazy day at home.

Anna Kathryn Gresham joined PBS in January of 2009 as Vice President of Business Development and Training and is responsible for all business development and client training activities. After 5.5 years managing the Denver office, she and her family have moved to Vestavia Hills.
Prior to joining PBS, Anna Kathryn was an Account Manager for a large IT staffing firm in Atlanta, Georgia. Anna Kathryn graduated from the University of Alabama Summa Cum Laude with a B.S in Family Financial Planning & Counseling and a Minor in Business Administration. Valerie Guy joined PBS PEO Payroll Services in June of 2022. Valerie comes to PBS with 18 years of operations, recruiting, and staffing experience. She also has 4 years of experience as an Assistant Buyer and Account Executive in the Cosmetics Industry.

Tom has more than 25 years’ experience in accounting and management. He began his career in the PEO industry in 1999. In 2001, he opened a PEO which he owned for 10 years. Prior to joining PBS, Tom worked in the payroll and insurance industries. He maintains insurance licenses in multiple states.
Tom currently resides in Trussville with his wife Pam. They have 3 sons. His family are active members of The Healing Place Church in Trussville, Alabama. He serves on the greeting team. In his free time, Tom enjoys spending time with his family and spending as much time as possible at the lake. He holds a BS degree in Accounting and Management from Jacksonville State University.

Jason Harkins started Payroll & Benefit Solutions (PBS) in March of 2005 as its Managing Member. Jason's primary responsibilities include operations management, business development and client relationship management. Prior to joining PBS, Jason worked with Compass Bank for eight years in their Commercial Lending and Auditing areas and also in the healthcare industry holding various positions in mergers & acquisitions, finance and operations areas.
Jason and his wife, Nikki, have two children, Taylor and Colee. He graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor's in Accounting. Jason is an active member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church and enjoys playing golf and coaching his daughters in sports. He was recognized as a finalist in the Birmingham Business Journal's "CEO of the Year" awards in 2012 and is a member of the Birmingham Venture Club.

Jessica Hill joined PBS in July of 2017 as a Business Development Officer. Jessica is responsible for PEO business growth activites centered on networking and relationship building with area business owners, current PBS clients, and other business advisors and consultants. She and her husband, Matt, live in Birmingham and have two children, Cohen and Mattilee.
Prior to joining PBS, Jessica worked with Regions Bank for eight years and ServisFirst for two years serving as Assistant Branch Manager, Sales Manager, and concentrating specifically in Cash Management Sales. Jessica graduated from Auburn University in 2004 and majored in Psychology and Child Counseling. She and her husband are advocates of Domestic Adoption and are members of the Catholic Family Services Non-Profits for Adoptions.

Kelly Jones joined Payroll & Benefit Solutions in 2018 as a Payroll Specialist. Syreeta Jones Woods joined Payroll & Benefit Solutions in July of 2021 as a Senior Payroll Specialist. Prior to joining PBS, Syreeta worked for a local manufacturing company for 17 years as their Senior Payroll Clerk. Syreeta brings years of experience in various areas of Payroll and Human Resources as well as Sales, Event Management, Team Building, Training, and HR Law.
Syreeta is widowed with two kids, Kenneshia (25) and KJ (21). KJ is a United States Navy Petty Officer. When she isn’t working, Syreeta is spending time with her two kids, one grandson, sweet dog named Logan, and the rest of her family. She loves shopping, going out with friends, and she is active in her local church where she is on the Media Ministry.

Greg Liddle joined PBS in March of 2005 as its initial Payroll Specialist. Greg's responsibilities include payroll portfolio management, filing and payment of taxes for various federal, state and local tax authorities, and software and client database maintenance. Prior to joining PBS, Greg worked for a construction firm as its payroll specialist, processing payroll and handling all tax filings within several states across the country.
Greg and his wife, Andrea, have two children. He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Finance and has received his Fundamental Payroll Certification from the American Payroll Association. Greg is an avid bowler, participating in competitive leagues since the age of 7.

Tara Markham joined the PBS PEO in May of 2021 as a PEO Payroll Specialist. Prior to joining PBS, she processed payroll for The City of Tuscaloosa. She attended Mississippi College on a softball scholarship until ultimately ending up at the University of Alabama. In her free time, you can find Tara traveling, playing the occasional pick-up game, fishing, enjoying the beach, spoiling her nephew and niece, and spending time with family and friends.

Kaleigh McDonald graduated from the University of Montevallo with a BS in Human Development and Child Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood Education, and a minor in Mass Communications. She started out her career teaching in Early Childhood Education, then, through a series of twists and turns, found herself, very happily, in client relations. This change led her to PBS in October of 2020 as a Payroll Clerk.

Dee Porter joined Payroll & Benefit Solutions in 2018 as a payroll specialist. She is responsible for handling all information relative to employees, including payroll processing and payroll tax processing. Matthew Rasbury joined PBS in June 2021 as a Tax Intern. Prior to joining PBS, Matthew was employed at Buffalo Rock as a rotating accounts merchandiser. Outside of work, Matthew is involved with training and teaching martial arts at Gardendale Taekwondo. Christine Raymond started with PBS as an Implementation Specialist in October 2020. Prior to joining the PBS Team, Christine worked in ticketing at the BJCC as the Box Office Manager for 13 ½ years. She is a graduate of the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Christine is married with one daughter and loves spending her free time outdoors, walking and spending time with her family and friends.

Senior Payroll Specialist
Nancy Roberson joined PBS in 2006 as a Payroll Specialist. Nancy is one of our original employees and one of the people that helped make PBS what it is today. Her duties include payroll portfolio management, new hire and termination assistance, and client assistance for her 100+ clients.
Nancy is a graduate of Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She is a member of the Birmingham Payroll Association and is also a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP). Prior to joining PBS, Nancy worked for a Real Estate Investment Trust and has over 25 years experience in Payroll Management and Benefit Administration.

Erin Russo joined PBS in November of 2019 as the Marketing Coordinator. She helps to maintain all aspects of our social media, website, marketing materials, and assists the sales team on many of their tasks. Erin has an Associate’s Degree from Jefferson State and has spent the last 4 years in sales. In her free time, Erin enjoys learning and improving her skills in graphic design, photo editing, and photography, traveling anywhere she can, and spending time with her husband, three cats, friends, and family.

Julia Schwarz joined Payroll & Benefit Solutions in March of 2023 as the Marketing Coordinator. She studied Marketing and Business Analytics at the University of Tampa and graduated with a Master’s degree in December of 2022. During her free time, Julia likes to travel, read, cook, and spend time with her family and friends. A fun fact about Julia is that she was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador.
Payroll Clerk
Brad joined PBS in June of 2023 as a Payroll Clerk after teaching Mathematics and History at Glen Iris Baptist School for seventeen years. He also obtained a Master of Science in Accounting degree while working full time. Brad would say his passion is helping others flourish and thrive.
Outside of PBS, Brad enjoys spending time with his wife, Grace, and their two children.

Alex Sullivan joined PBS in July of 2022 as a Business Development Representative. He graduated from Auburn University in 2016. Prior to joining PBS, Alex worked as a Sales Representative with a medical sales company for 5 years and has a passion for bringing his clients the right products.
Outside of PBS, Alex enjoys spending time with his wife, Katharine, and their two golden retrievers, Mowgli and Dodger. When he’s not with his family, you can find Alex on the golf course, watching sports, and volunteering at his church.

PEO Coordinator
Jeanne Shearer joined the PBS Team in September of 2019 as Director of Business Development and joined the PBS PEO Team in 2021 as the dedicated PEO New Client Coordinator. Jeanne takes all of her years of payroll/human resource experience and knowledge and couples that with her strong organization and processing abilities to help the PEO run smoothly. She works hand-in-hand with our new clients and our team to make the onboarding experience as seamless as possible.
Jeanne brings to PBS 29+ years in the payroll and human resource outsourcing industry, with roles including National Account Executive, Project Manager, and Senior Sales Consultant. Jeanne graduated from the University of Alabama in 1986, majoring in Corporate Finance and Investment Management. She and her husband Tom live in Birmingham and have two grown sons. Jeanne is an active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and enjoys cooking, watching college football and basketball, and spending time with her family and friends.

Portia joined Payroll & Benefit Solutions originally in 2017 as a Payroll Specialist and, again, in November of 2023. Prior to joining PBS, Portia had an extensive career in retail sales and finances. Portia brings service with a smile to the PBS family and does what she can to strengthen the team.

Tamara Taylor joined PBS May of 2024 as an HR Specialist. Prior to joining the team, she worked as an HR Generalist in a large-scale manufacturing company, where she began her HR career. She also brings 10 plus years of customer service experience, working in the banking and 401k industry.
Tamara is a graduate of The University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and finding new hobbies, some of her favorite being sewing, thrifting, and decorating.

Emily joined PBS in January of 2024. Prior to joining the PBS team, Emily worked in the HR Technology and higher education. Emily graduated from Mississippi College with a B.S. in Kinesiology and later a M.S. in Higher Education Administration.

Payroll Specialist
Juana joined PBS as a Payroll Specialist in February 2021. She was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas, and moved to Birmingham in February of 2010. She attended the University of Texas in Brownsville and earned a degree in Business Administration. Aside from working in payroll for the last ten years, Juana also worked as an interpreter for Homeland Security.
Juana says her family is the biggest and most important part of her life. Her daughter is currently attending Wallace Community College where she is working on her criminal justice degree, and her son is a Captain for the Sky West airline group. Her husband, Manuel, does construction contract work. They enjoy spending time together and traveling whenever possible.

Vice President of HR Support Services
As Vice President of HR Support Services, Kay Troupe is responsible for coordinating PBS' human resources consulting services. In this role, she provides HR support ranging from project work to providing total virtual HR support. She joined PBS in August of 2014.
Kay has 40 years of diverse human resources and management experience. She has held several leadership positions, all while working closely with business leaders in various industries to provide HR consulting services, build HR systems, and implement new practices. She has led all major HR functions including policy design, ACA and legal compliance, employee relations, performance management, compensation, training and development, and benefit administration. Prior to joining PBS, Kay worked with a background screening company where she served as the Chief Compliance Officer.
Kay graduated from Auburn University where she earned a Bachelor of Science with a major in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations, and she holds a Masters of Business Administration from Samford University.

James Waid joined PBS in January of 2015 as a Payroll Specialist. He quickly became the go-to for all payroll-related questions and concerns and provides the Payroll Team with a wealth of knowledge and expertise. James directly manages all other Payroll Specialists and is also a key member of our leadership team. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Marketing and Management.
James enjoys spending time with his wife, Makenzie, and two dogs, Theo and Winnie. When he’s not with his family, you can find James exercising, playing golf, watching sports, and hanging out with friends.

Casilda joined PBS as the Benefits Manager in December 2022. She graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor’s in Business Management and a concentration in Human Resources. Prior to PBS, Casilda served as a HR Generalist for a Non-Profit organization with over 14 years’ experience in HR, Benefits, Payroll, Employee Relations, and Customer Service. Throughout her experience, Casilda learned that her purpose is to serve, whether it’s giving back to her community, helping a teammate resolve an issue, or making sure employees and clients’ needs are met. Casilda’s goal is to always give her best to fulfil her purpose.
